Oidhreacht
Dán gleoite le Jack Hennigan

Glaotar Mán iontach ar mo bhaile fearainn,
Ta cónaí ar mo shinsir i Mán iontach le cúpla céad
bliain,
Femeoirí ba ea iad formhór mo shinsir,
Chaith siad gach lá ag feirmeioreacht .

Chaith mo Sheanuncail iontach
a óige ag troid i gCogadh na saoirse ,
Throid sé ar son ár gcultúr agus ár dteanga.
Ta Corcaigh, Náisiúnachas, feirmeoireacht agus
Éire i mo chuid fola.

A poem for our times by Andrew Doyle

LOCKDOWN

We are in lockdown

Because of this killer disease

So don’t take this funny

If you do please

We should follow the guidelines

To help the community

Because maybe just maybe

We’ll soon have immunity

This disease is a killer

Is what we think and say

While we are trying to stop it

It will hunt for its prey

So please wash your hands

And don’t forget to sanitize

For if we don’t follow the simple steps

We might never again socialize!

Dán álainn le Ben Ó Cofaigh

COMÓRADH M’UCAILÍ (21-01-1921)

Bhí beirt fhear ann fadó fadó
Céad Bliain ó shin
I rith cogadh na saoirse
I lár na hoíche
Chuala siad cnag ar an doras
Tógadh iad óna leapacha
Thóg a namhaid iad
Maraíodh iad gan trua gan trócaire
Bhí m’uncailí ró-óg chun bás a fháil
Ní bhfuair siad seans ar bith
Cuireann mo chlann
bláthana ag an uaigh
M’uncailí móra a bhí chomh cróga
Tadhg agus Seamus O’ Cofaigh
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a nanamacha dílis
